William T. Peek "Billy T"

William T. Peek, “Billy T,” 83, of Commerce, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born on January 21, 1939, in Greenville, Texas, the son of Bruce Peek and Estilene Harris Peek.

Bill grew up in Commerce, graduating from Commerce High School with the class of 1957. He then attended East Texas State University (Texas A&M University-Commerce). On October 15, 1961, Bill enlisted in the United States Army. His platoon was sitting on the runway to be deployed when the plans were suddenly changed. After faithfully serving his country, he was honorably discharged on August 9, 1962. Following the service, he began a career in banking that spanned many years. He served as the Vice President of Mercantile Bank in Dallas until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. Bill enjoyed many varied activities during his life. His first love was flying airplanes. He was also a talented photographer and was considered a computer whiz.

Remaining to cherish Bill’s memory is his wife, Carol; his children, Bill Peek and wife, Kristy, and Deborah Roppolo and husband, Patrick, step-sons Steve Nelson and David Nelson;  grandchildren, Daniel Roppolo, Trace Peek, Kayelyn Roppolo, Amanda Nelson, Jonathan Roppolo, and Alex Nelson; great grandchild, Luke Roppolo.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Estilene Peek and sister, Carolyn Smith.
