William Thomas Dillinger, 95, of Commerce, died on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Tom was born on April 19, 1923 on a farm outside Commerce, Texas to his parents, William Dillinger and Iva Venus Dillinger. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Commerce. A funeral service will take place immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at the church, with David Gibson officiating. Interment will take place at Rosemound Cemetery.
In January of 1943, Tom entered the United States Army. He served in the Army’s Pacific Theater; being part of the first troops to occupy Tokyo. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Following his military service, Tom used his GI Bill eligibility to enter Harding Bible College. He eventually moved to Colorado Springs, then to Wyoming. While living in Wyoming, he worked as a real estate developer and a home builder. Upon retirement, Tom returned to Commerce. He was a faithful member of the Commerce Church of Christ for many years.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas Dillinger (Deb), of Colorado Springs, CO; his daughter, Brenda Carothers (Daniel), of Lexington, KY; son Bill Dillinger (Karla), of Lexington, KY; and his son, David Dillinger (Laura), of Colorado Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and his sisters, Ruth (Herchel), Jean (George), and Katie Ellen.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Marvin Watterson and his mother, Iva Watterson.
