Warren Paul Dunham

Warren Paul Dunham, 69, of Commerce, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in Dallas, surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 18, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. His parents were William Owen Dunham and Pauline Knight Dunham.  A visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Commerce. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Kris Myers officiating.

Warren grew up in McAllen, Texas, where he attended McAllen High School, graduating in 1967.  While there, he was involved with DeMolay, which is a youth leadership organization which strives to shape young men into leaders of character.  He was also a very skilled tennis player and played clarinet in the band. After high school, Warren attended East Texas State University, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1973.  While there, he met the love of his life, Debbie. They married in Bogata, Texas on August 21, 1971.

He spent his career working for Drake Furniture as the bookkeeper for 37 years. Warren enjoyed various activities during his spare time.  Since childhood, he was active in Boy Scouts. He carried that passion into adulthood, becoming an assistant scoutmaster. He also enjoyed deer hunting and attending athletic events at Texas A&M-Commerce.  Go Lions! Warren and Debbie have been members of First Baptist Church, Commerce for many years. Warren served in countless ways, often quietly behind the scenes, which is what he preferred. His favorite roles in life were being Husband, Dad and Grandfather.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Debbie; his son, Paul Dunham, his daughter, Kim Macek and her husband, Andy; grandchildren, Owen, Olivia and Jasper Dunham, and Hannah and Luke Macek; his twin sister, Debbie Parish; nephews, Chuck Parish and wife, Grace, Joey Parish and wife, Liz and his mother-in-law, Roberta Puckett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Pauline Dunham and his father-in-law, Gaston Puckett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given to honor Warren to either the North East Texas Children’s Museum at netxcm.com, or the Community Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church, 1401 Washington Street, Commerce 75428.
