Terri Jean (Jedlicka) Watson

Terri Jean Watson, 66, of Pickton, TX (formerly of Commerce), died in Dallas on September 1, 2020. Terri was born in Kaufman, Texas on February 11, 1954, the daughter of Will Jedlicka and Frances Starek Jedlicka.

Terri attended Corsicana High School where she participated in numerous clubs and athletics, graduating in 1972. She went on to attend Navarro Jr. College and became a lieutenant of the NJC Drill team. She then attended East Texas State University in Commerce, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Counseling. While Terri was attending ETSU, she met the love of her life, Christopher Alan Watson from Texarkana, TX. They were married on August 23, 1975. They had just celebrated 45 years together prior to Terri’s untimely death.

Following graduation, Terri was employed at ETSU as a Financial Aid officer until leaving to raise their two daughters. Years later she became a teacher at Commerce High School and at retirement was employed as a Transition Specialist at Tri-County Co-Op.

Those who knew Terri have many fond memories of her, always commenting on her radiant smile and kindness.

Terri enjoyed teaching children’s Bible classes at church, especially Vacation Bible School. She also served as church librarian for many years. Her other interests were cooking, camping, traveling, and crafting. Terri and Chris enjoyed prospecting for gold, collecting gemstones, and making handcrafted jewelry. During their retirement years, they enjoyed taking long trips in their RV.

Terri is survived by her family, husband, Chris; daughters Laura Watson (Raphael Donovan) and Julie Watson; sister Kyra Cariker (Kenneth); brother Gary Don Sheppard; mother-in-law Etta Watson.

Preceding her in death were her parents Frances and Don Sheppard, Will and Nell Jedlicka; and brother, Michael Myers.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, September 7 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 1900 Culver St., Commerce, TX 75428, with David Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, TX 76626.

Serving as pallbearers are: Tom Etzkorn, Joe Davis, Wallace Mynatt, Raphael Donovan, Adam Hensley and Marshall Hensley.
