Steven Lloyd Staub

Steven Lloyd Staub lost his long battle with cancer Thursday, September 25, 2014. He was 64. Steve is survived by his wife Cindy Staub, two children, Son Clint Staub of Cleveland, Tx and daughter Christa Staub along with Son-in-law Ben Watson of Dickinson, Tx. Also survived by his parents Lawrence and Gracye Staub of Richardson, Tx.; Brother and sister-in-law Larry (Snapper) and Janan Staub of Pottsboro, Tx; sister and brother-in-law Pattye and Andy Johnson of Carrollton, Tx and sister-in-law Jacque Staub of Graham, Tx. His brother Charles Staub preceeded him in death. Steve was born June 17, 1950 in El Paso, Tx. He graduated from Richardson High School, class of '68 and then moved to Commerce to continue his education. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education from East Texas State University where he became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Steve loved small town Commerce where he met and married Cindy, his wife of 37 years and decided to make his home here. He was employed by Tri-County SSA and Commerce ISD as a Special Education Teacher and also drove a school bus. Many children passed through the doors of his classroom and bus. The last 19 years he has been the Vocational Adjustment Coordinator with Tri-County SSA. Steve also followed his grandfather, father, and older brother by joining the Navy and served in Reserves as a Photo Interpretation Specialist. Pallbearers are Jim Tavener, Red Anderson, Bobby Hill, Will Haddock, Lanny Rainey, Keith Jones, Chuck Farrell Ryan Seinty and Don Nivens. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce beginning with visitation at 2 p.m. and Memorial service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
