Sharon Miller Johnson, 76, of Campbell, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, with her husband by her side. She was born on November 7, 1945, in Cooper, Texas, the daughter of Marion Manton Miller and Melverne Baker Miller.
After graduating from Cooper High School, Sharon attended East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce), earning her Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended Colorado State University, earning her Master of Education, and finally, her PhD. She began her career teaching and coaching at various schools in Colorado. In 1996, she began her twenty-year tenure at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She taught in the College of Administration in the capacity of Assistant Dean, College of Education. She then moved to Associate Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs, then Associate Vice President, Student Access, and Success. On June 6, 2008, Sharon married the true love of her life, Michael Johnson. They enjoyed fifteen years of love and good times together.
Sharon was very active in the community following her retirement. She volunteered her time for the American Red Cross, Arvada Senior Center, Junior Afflatus, and Lil` Angels. She served on the Hunt County Regional Hospital Foundation Board and as a Voter Registrar. She will obviously be missed by the many individuals who served beside her in all of these worthy causes.
Remaining to cherish Sharon’s memory are her husband, Michael; her children, Alison Wynn Chambers Bodor and husband, Daryl, and Ryan Patrick Chambers; her grandchildren, Wynn Marie Bodor and Bryce Campbell Bodor, her brother, William Wade Miller and wife, Harriet and sister-in-law, Kaye Page Miller.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Melverne Miller; her brother, Marion Manton Miller, II and sister-in-law, Ann Ray Miller, brother, Whitney Alexander Miller,
Serving as pallbearers for Sharon will be Ted Oats, Jeff Oats, Daryl Bodor, Jim Patton, Wyman Williams, and Herb Kulp.
