Rosalyn Louise Stapleton

Rosalyn Louise Stapleton, affectionately known as Rose, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her family.   A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church Commerce on March 22nd at 10:00 a.m., where family and friends will gather to celebrate Rose’s life and share cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her honor.

Born on January 24, 1945, in Wales, England, Rose’s parents, Glenys and Walter Wynn returned home to the family homestead in East Texas after World War II, where Rose would grow up and later marry her high school sweetheart Albert Stapleton in 1963.

In her earlier years, Rose worked as a seamstress at H.D. Lee, and later at Cumby ISD as the superintendent's secretary. She retired from Commerce ISD after 20 years of dedicated service, having worked as the payroll coordinator. However, her most cherished and rewarding role was that of a mother. Rose devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and, later, to supporting her grandchildren in their school and sports activities. She was always their number-one fan—cheering them on with boundless love, pride, and affection.

Rose had a deep love for travel and enjoyed exploring new places. She also had a great fondness for casinos, where she enjoyed the thrill of the game, as well as betting on the fastest gray horse at the racetrack. Her adventurous spirit and love of excitement were just a few of the many traits that made her a memorable and beloved figure to those who knew her.

Rose was also an avid participant in several clubs and organizations. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, Bridge Club, and Prayer Shawl Club. Rose also generously volunteered her time at Bargain Box, a community organization she held close to her heart.

When she was not traveling, Rose enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and playing games of bridge and Mahjong with her friends. Her hands were always busy, whether creating a beautiful quilt or tending to her garden, and her home was always open to friends and family alike.

Rose’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of those she loved will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community, one that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Al Stapleton; her children Steve Stapleton (and wife Denise) and Stacy Morris (and husband Anthony); and her cherished grandchildren Logan Morris, Garrett Stapleton, Kaden Morris, and Lana Stapleton. Rose is also survived by her sister, Judy Banks. She was preceded in death by her mother, Glenys Wynn; father, Walter Wynn; and grandson, Mason Morris, who remains forever in her heart.
