Raymond J Embro

November 29, 1954 — November 13, 2024

Commerce

Raymond Joseph Embro of Commerce passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 69 on November 13, 2024. Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandpa, who was known throughout his community. He and his wife, Sheri Embro, were together 38 years and created a life full of love with children and grandchildren who adored him.  A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ray was born on November 29, 1954 in Monterey Park, California, the son of Joseph and Grace Embro. He grew up in La Puente, California and after high school he worked with his Dad in the used car business. After leaving the car business, Ray spent 30 years traveling the highways and backroads of America as a truck driver, and eventually owned and operated his own truck company named Backstreet Trucking.

Ray met his “A1 Wife” in 1987, Sheri, who was a successful single mother at the time. He became a loving father to his two stepchildren, Kristen & Katy. Ray and Sheri went on to have a son and daughter together, Ray Jr., named after himself and Grace named after his late mother.

During Ray’s years in the trucking industry, his father Joseph Embro moved to Texas and became a respected property owner and manager.  When his dad became ill, Ray gave up trucking and moved his family from California to Texas to help care for his father. During this time, Ray learned about property ownership and management. He and his wife Sheri eventually started their own property ownership company named American Eagle Properties.

Although Ray never served in the United States Military, he had the utmost respect for those who served and was proud to fly the American flag every day. This was evident in the name selected for his new property management company as well as his love of collecting eagle statues.

His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren who adored him. Ray supported his grandchildren in all their activities and loved to teach them valuable skills such as working with tools and property repairs.

Ray is survived by his loving wife: Sheri Embro, his son and his wife: Ray Jr & Shelbie Embro and their children Matthew Embro and Rachel Embro; his daughter and her husband: Grace Lane and Marcus Lane and her daughter Bella Neal-Embro, his step daughter and her husband: Kristen and Craig Harper and her child Sal Guzman Jr, his step daughter: Katy McCormick and her children Kenny McCormick and Brooklyn McCormick, and his loving sister: Kathleen Beverley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Grace Embro.
