Paul Robert Welch, 53, of Greenville, died on Sunday, May 23, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on December 14, 1967 in Greenville, Texas, the son of Lester Lee Welch and Jeanette Sibley Welch Norris.
Paul was raised in Commerce. He attended Commerce High School, graduating in 1991. Paul attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Commerce for many years. He then attended church in Greenville at Highland Terrace Baptist Church. Paul enjoyed a variety of activities, including his church, crochet, shopping and watching “Dallas” on television. He loved singing in church and believed in Jesus. He used to like writing and would often copy words out of the Bible or a hymnal. He always carried a briefcase with paper and a Bible to Dayhab (adult daycare). As for crochet, Paul made circles which we called his monkey hats. He loved to give them to people. His family would use them for coasters. Paul loved being around people. His mom and dad owned the Continental Trailways bus station in Commerce; therefore, Paul was always around people. What he lacked in speech skills, he made up for in facial expressions or would simply grab your hand and take you to show you what he meant. When it came to his favorite foods, he enjoyed eggrolls and Dr. Pepper. He was famous for sneaking in the kitchen for snacks anytime of the day or night. He LOVED to eat! He got in trouble for that once. On his way home from Dayhab, he usually got a Dr Pepper Slurpee as a treat. He suffered through a two week “no “Slurpee” punishment because of his misdeed! Paul was almost always happy and spread that happiness like sunshine. It was hard to have a bad day if you were around Paul for any time.
Paul is survived by his brother, David Welch and his wife, Loretta and Shanna and Rhys Truscott, his niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Welch and Jeanette Welch Norris.
