It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia (Trish) Thornton on October 16, 2024 at the age of 81. Trish was born on June 21, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of James Haskell Trotter and Thelma Annette Craven.
Trish attended the James A. Gray High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, graduating with the class of 1961. In 1978, she married Kenneth Thornton, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage, until his passing in 2006. Trish worked in Human Resources at Raytheon for thirty years, before her retirement. Trish was known for her steadfast beliefs, her joy for life, and her unfailing love for those she held dear: her family and friends, her pets, her garden and her neighborhood. She was also a devout member of First Baptist Church-Commerce. The ladies of the Women’s Sunday School class were her closest friends. She could always be counted on to minister to them in their time of need.

Trish is survived by stepsons Bruce and Patrick Thornton, their wives Debbie and Erin Thornton, and her daughter-in-law Stephanie Thornton Nickerson. Trish adored her grandchildren and loved listening to their stories and adventures as they transitioned to adulthood: Bradford Thornton of Mississippi, Bailey Thornton of Colorado, Chance Thornton of Houston, and Jackson and Ryan Thornton of Cooper were all cherished by their Mimi. Bradford also has a wife, Krystyn, and two children, Lily Kate and Todd. She has a beloved sister, Joanne Trotter Kelly and several nieces and nephews all out of state. She treasured her loving friend group who she viewed as family.
