Nannie Canady

June 18, 1913 — December 20, 2016

Nannie Mae Canady, 103, of Dallas, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in Carrollton, Texas.  She was born on June 18, 1913 in Scatter Branch, Texas, the daughter of Arthur Turley and Minnie Josephine Parker Turley.

After graduating from Commerce High School, Nannie attended East Texas State Normal College, where she obtained her degree in education.  She enjoyed a 38 year teaching career during which time she taught 2nd grade in Campbell, Paris and finally in Dallas Independent School District.  She married Frank Hardy Canady on September 11, 1943 in Commerce, Texas.

Nannie had many varied interests.  She was an accomplished landscape painter, seamstress and gardener.  She never passed her garden without stooping down to pull a few weeds.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and going out to eat, which she and her daughter did three times a week!  Nannie was a long time member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Dallas, where she enjoyed attending a ladies Bible study.

Nannie is survived by her daughters, Linda Velez and Sharon Noblin and her husband, David Noblin, Sr.; a grandson, David Noblin, Jr. and great grandchildren, Jonathan Noblin, Abby Noblin and Sebastian Noblin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Minnie Turley and her siblings, Ona Lucille Turley and Wayne H. Turley.
