Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Williams, 93, went home to be with Jesus on July 1, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 2, 1924 in Emblem, Texas, the daughter of Marion Zachriah Hammons and Ruby Gladys Mason.
Lizzie worked hard alongside her husband, J.L., all her adult life. Lizzie and J.L. were married on December 5, 1940 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God in Commerce. She loved her family and spent time with them whenever possible. She also enjoyed gardening and watching the birds as time allowed.
Lizzie is survived by her children, Gail Myers and husband, Jim, Linda Middlebrooks and husband, Larry, Jimmie Waller and husband, Charles, Larry Williams, and wife, Pam, Sheri Gloor and husband, Allen and Randy Williams and wife, Carolyn; brothers, Billy Wayne Hammons and Jackie Harold Hammons and wife, Barbara; 12 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Williams; her parents, Marion and Ruby Hammons; sisters, Jenny Bell Williams and Darva Nell Hall; brothers, J.L. “Buster” Hammons and James Earl “Shorty” Hammons; a grandson, Hank Devin Haddock and a great grandson, Jody Tuggle.
Serving as casket bearers for Lizzie will be Bobby David Lemon, Keith Smith, Kelly Broyles, Garrett Jackson, Eric Williams and Scotty Williams.
