Mary Ann Crawford St. Clair was born on October 8, 1934 to Lillie Ann Short Crawford and Clarence Ervin Crawford in their rustic farmhouse just outside of Trenton, Texas. Mary Ann began her education in a one room schoolhouse near Trenton, leaving home after high school to attend East Texas State Teacher’s College, now known as Texas A & M University at Commerce, where she met Virgil St. Clair and married him on August 30, 1953.

Mary Ann passed away at Hunt Regional Hospital in Greenville on March 29, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Harold Crawford, and her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Commerce, Texas, Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Virgil. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary Ann’s name to the Commerce, Texas United Methodist Church at 1709 TX-24, Commerce, TX 75428 or the Commerce Food Pantry at PO Box 269, Commerce, TX 75429.
