Mary Nell Roberts, 75, of Campbell, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Commerce, Texas. She was born on August 15, 1942 in Odessa, Texas, the daughter of John Clayton Holt and Nellie Reves Holt.
Mary attended Andrews High School. She married Jack Roberts on February 2, 1963 in Andrews, Texas. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, after which she began her teaching career, which spanned 29 years. She retired after teaching first grade at Campbell Elementary School for 18 years. Mary was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Commerce for many years. She was highly involved in a ministry called “Walk to Emmaus”, which touched many lives in very impactful ways. Her faith was important to her, which is evidenced by her substantial angel collection. Angels adorn every room of her home; coming in every size and shape. She was also active in a ladies group called “The Red Hat Society”, which is a playgroup for women created to connect like-minded women, make new friends and enrich lives through the power of fun and friendship.
Mary is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack; her sons, James Roberts and wife, Linda and John Roberts and wife, Dana; grandchildren, Justin Roberts, Kathryn Roberts and Daniel Roberts and a brother, Doug Holt and wife, Kathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Holt.
Serving as pallbearers for Mary are John Roberts, James Roberts, Justin Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Kathryn Roberts and Eddie Madison.
