Funeral services for Louise Dunn Faires, age 91, of Commerce, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29,2013 at the Commerce Church of Christ with David Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Chandler Memorial Cemetery in Chandler, Texas with Mike Anderson, Joe Davis, Jay Garrett, Howard Lambert, Wallace Mynatt, James Peek, Leon Summerlin and Chris Watson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Bogan, Ed Garrett, Joe Allen, Sonny Moore, Donny Weimar and Rick Nowlin.
Visitation will be from 9:45 a.m.-10:55 a.m. preceding the funeral service.
Mrs. Faires passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Country Home Estates in Commerce with her son at her side.
Louise was born July 28, 1921 in the family home four miles south of Chandler, TX, the daughter of William Ambrose Dunn and Willie Maud Low. She married her husband, Tom Flow Faires, Jr., in Rockwall, TX, March 2, 1942, he preceded her in death.
Louise completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at East Texas State Teachers College, now Texas A & M University-Commerce. She taught for three years in the Chandler Public Schools while her husband was on active duty in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Louise resided in Commerce, Texas for 67 consecutive years. After retiring from teaching she dedicated most of her time to raising her son and enjoying the gift of being a full time loving mother. She had a passion for family gatherings. Louise loved her family unconditionally and professed her love of Christ. She was a devoted member of the Commerce Church of Christ and was proud of her Christian faith. She is survived by her son, Dr. Dunn Thomas Faires of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Clara Mae Dunn Belcher, Gladys Haseltine Dunn, Jewell Dunn Ellis Mitchell, her brothers William Tracy Dunn, John Fuller Dunn and Chester Paul Dunn. She was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Kathryn Baugh Dunn, Pauline M Dunn, MD, Mildred Dunn, Dorothy Faires May, Dee Taylor Faires, Betty Faires Avant, her brothers-in-law Emory H. Belcher, William Buford Ellis, Fred M. Mitchell, Leonard L. May, James O’Neil Faires, and Joe B. Avant and nephew Bob W. Dunn.
Louise was a special woman and will always be affectionately remembered by her loving family and friends.
