Linda T Phillips

September 17, 1946 — January 8, 2022

McKinney

Linda Reable (Thomas) Phillips, of McKinney, Texas, peacefully passed away at the age of 75 on January 8, 2022, in Plano, Texas. She was born on September 17, 1946, in Temple, Texas, to Lloyd E. Thomas and Wanda L. (Miller) Thomas.

She spent her early years in Brazoria, Texas. Her family then moved to Bellville, Texas where Linda graduated with the class of 1964. Her father was the principal at Bellville High. Linda was a cheerleader and basketball star. She then attended Blinn College, studying drama, journalism, and speech.

Her family then moved to McKinney, Texas. She came during the summer and worked part-time at Northside Pharmacy. It was during one of those summers that Linda met the love of her life, Kenneth “Larry” Phillips. They married on June 22, 1968, and then moved to Commerce, Texas, where she worked for LTV while Larry attended college. After Larry graduated, they then moved back to McKinney and started their family.

Linda wore many different hats in her working career, from law to beauty, even spending time as a lifeguard. She found creativity wherever she lived, learning to use her talents in various ways. She had many adventures in her time on earth as her book about her family illustrates. The star of that is her beloved daughter-in-law, Araceli. Linda’s love of family was like no other including, of course, her precious animals.

She had many interests, from music of different cultures, to sports, and even genealogy. With her talents, Linda was able to piece together her father’s family without much to assist her, as internet access in the 1980’s was not yet available. Luckily, Linda’s research was able to bring her family even more relatives to love.

Linda was instrumental in the creation of the building of the veterans’ park in McKinney, Texas. She assisted author, Ronnie (RD) Foster, of McKinney, with data for several non-fiction veteran books he has written throughout the years. As a show of respect and appreciation, a pave stone will be placed in the McKinney Veterans’ Memorial.

Linda worked for Digi-Tall Media, producing at least thirty book covers and many outstanding graphic illustrations for authors around the world. Using the email address, “RebelRed,” Linda’s talents led her to become a published author in her own right. She accomplished publication of five books (four children’s books and one non-fiction memoir about her family).

Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Kenneth “Larry” Phillips; her two sons, Koby Phillips and Kasey Phillips and wife, Araceli; her three “grand princesses”, as she called her granddaughters, Ella, Adriana, and Addison, and grandson, Kaleb Larry Phillips; mother, Wanda (Miller) Thomas, two sisters and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Elmo Thomas, Sr; her brother, Lloyd Elmo “Tommy” Thomas, Jr.; nephew, Chaney Lloyd Thomas; in-laws, A.W. Phillips, Jr., and Anna Rae (Malone) Phillips; sisters-in-law, Paula Ann (Phillips) Cook and Patsy Ann (Nelson) Phillips; brother-in-law, Earl Dwayne Cook; nephew, Steven Bruce Phillips.

Extraordinary love for her nieces, Jill (Phillips) Rodarmer and Kellie Cook for the support and love they have shown.
