Laura was born in Needmore, Delta County, Texas on June 11, 1923 and passed away on August 2, 2014. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1942, and after a year of college, moved to Dallas, Texas. For many years, Laura worked for a large insurance company in Dallas. Laura was a long time member of Park Cities Baptist Church where she had many friends who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Viola Stooksberry, brothers James and Robert, and sister Eva Mae Barker. She is survived by brothers Troy and Cecil Stooksberry of Dallas, Frank Stooksberry of El Monte, California and many nieces and nephews.
In 1934, at the age of eleven, she walked the aisle of the Baptist church in rural South Sulphur, Texas, in a revival meeting, and gave her life to Christ; she said her life was never the same since. She was a prayer warrior, a faithful church member, and a friend to everyone. She loved her church, her bible class, and always had a smile and a cheerful disposition.
She enjoyed cooking and hosting family events. She loved her family and leaves many happy memories. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Commerce, Texas at Commerce Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will begin at 11:30 A.M.
