Jerry Alvin Liston, 76, of Commerce, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2024 at UTSW Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His wife of over 50 years, Linda Sue Luckett, as well as his children were by his side. Jerry was born on September 11, 1948 to Alvin Arthur Liston and Verda Ruth Carr.
Jerry grew up in Ladonia, Texas. It was there he met his best friend Bobby Hill. Oh the stories they could tell. Jerry graduated from Fannindel High School with the class of 1967. He married the love of his life, Linda, on February 15, 1974, in Commerce, Texas. Jerry enjoyed over 40 years as an insurance broker.
Jerry found his greatest pleasures in watching his grandkids and cheering them on. On any given day, you’d find Jerry watching his favorite sports teams – the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Aggies or Kansas City Chiefs. He loved camping, anything sweet, and was the ultimate piddler and collector in his garage up until he couldn’t. He never met a stranger and his sense of humor is one that could put a smile on anyone’s face. He kept his family laughing right up until the end. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife Linda; son Jason Liston and fiancé Valerie Fulkerson of Commerce, Texas; daughter Courtney and son-in-law Grant Gist of Frisco, Texas; and son Bryan Liston of Paris, Texas. Grandchildren Dylan Liston, Matthew Liston, Grace Gist, and Caitlyn Gist; Sisters Betty Brounley and Jimmie Shaw; Sisters-in-law Amy (Randy) Manning and Alicia (Greg) Hulsey; Nieces Lacy (Ronnie) Witt, Lori Manning and Alecia Shaw; Nephews Scott (Becca) Hulsey and Tyler Hulsey.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Verda Liston; Sisters Elaine Lisciandro and Ann Apple; grandson Colton Liston.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bobby Hill, Jerry Lawler, and Dr. Robert Deuell.
