Jane Elizabeth Myers White, 88, of Commerce, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Dallas Texas. She was born on August 23, 1932 in the Scatter Branch Community near Commerce.
When she was thirteen, the family moved to Commerce from Scatter Branch. She attended Commerce High School, graduating in 1950. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce where she professed her faith at an early age. Later in life, she became a member of the First Christian Church of Commerce. While a student at Commerce, she was a cheerleader during her Freshman through Senior year. She met Jimmy White when she was fifteen and they were inseparable until his death in August of 2017. She always said she met the love of her life as well as her best friend. She attended East Texas State University receiving a certification in Business Administration. She worked for the President of the university as his administrative assistant. Jane married Jimmy, her husband of 64 years, on May 31, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Commerce. As Jimmy was in the Air Force as a KB-29 Tanker Pilot, they moved to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Hondo AFB, Reese AFB in Lubbock, Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Bergstrom AFB in Austin, and Eielson AFB in Alaska. After several years in the Air Force, they decided to move back to Commerce and join Jimmy’s father at White’s Dry Goods Store, which they eventually bought and operated until the early 80’s. Jane went to work for the First National Bank of Commerce and retired there after many years of service.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy and her parents, Dennis and Rena Myers.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Bohannon (Gary) of Ector, grandson, Derek Bohannon (Kayla), two great granddaughters, Trinity and Lylah of Sulphur Springs; her grandson, Scott Bohannon (Kelsey) and great granddaughter, Preslee, of Sherman; her granddaughter, Amy Bohannon and Austin Prescher and great grandson, Zion, of McGregor; her granddaughter, Briana Bohannon, and great grandson, Xander, of Dallas.
Jane will be remembered by her devotion to her family and friends.
The family would like to e express their heartfelt appreciation to TMC Bonham, Maxima Home Health, Oak Manor Nursing Home, EMT’s of Bonham/Commerce/ Greenville, Hunt Regional Emergency Medical Center of Commerce, Hunt Regional Hospital of Greenville, Care Flite Team of Dallas, Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital of Dallas, all the doctors, nurses, and medical personnel that helped her through her last few months of her life.
