James Lamon Harris was born in Commerce, Texas to Giles Lamon "Dootch" Harris and Una Mae Harris on October 22, 1949 and went to be with our Lord on March 12, 2021.
A memorial service to celebrate James' life is planned for Friday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1505 Washington St., Commerce, TX 75428.
James would light up a room with his smile and personality. He loved people and making people laugh and everyone loved him. There wasn't a chance you could get past him without hearing his latest joke. Getting in the car and just driving was one of his many pleasures. He enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. He had always had a cool story to tell. He enjoyed cooking for everyone and loved bragging about the meals he cooked for the residents of the nursing home he so lovingly talked about. He was a very intelligent person and knew something about everything which made him easy to talk to.
His son Randall was his pride and joy and one of his greatest gifts. James would brag about his hockey, culinary skills, and their adventures together. James has always been so proud of his family and has always bragged about them whenever anyone asked.
When the Lord gave him his wings, they took the best. He was a true gift to everyone and will be truly missed.
James was proceeded in death by his mother, Una, his father "Dootch", and his brother, Randy. He is survived by his son Randall, his brother Rickey, his nieces and their families, and many, many friends all the way back to Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School, Sunset High School, and his Sigma Phi Epsilon brothers.
