— Funeral services for Jacquelyn Virginia Strickland, 89, of Commerce will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clement-Keel Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville with Rev. James Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strickland passed away the morning of Aug. 4, 2012, at Oak Manor Nursing Home in Commerce.
Mrs. Strickland was born May 26, 1923, in Three Sands, Okla., the daughter of Jack Newton and Oma Ligon Davis.
Mrs. Strickland was a proud homemaker and formerly lived in Thackerville, Okla., for more than 20 years, where she met her current husband, Otis Spencer; he survives. She was a dedicated member of the Assembly of God Church of Gainesville.
Other survivors include her son, John L. Sanders; her sisters, Dorothy McCarley, Mildred Worton, Chrystine Dunn, and Ellie Davis; and numerous friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John J. Sanders; her son, Richard Sanders; her grandson, John Walter Sanders; and her brother, Chester Davis. Arrangements are under the direction of Commerce Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
