Glenna Mae Runnels, 94, of Commerce, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Commerce. She was born on April 6, 1923 in Cooper, Texas, the daughter of Marshall Wheeler and Nora Chapman Wheeler.
Glenna grew up in Pecan Gap, Texas. On August 28, 1943, when she was 20 years old, she married Jesse Runnels. The ceremony took place at the parsonage of the Church of Christ in Cooper, Texas. In the early 1980s, the family retired and built a house in Pecan Gap. It was then that they began attending the Church of Christ in Commerce. Glenna was active in many activities in town. She enjoyed membership in the Pecan Gap Ladies Club, as well as being a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. Glenna’s ministry to the community was cooking and baking, often taking her creations to those who needed to know they were remembered. She enjoyed spending time keeping her garden at her home. Glenna always looked nice, wearing beautiful clothing and jewelry.
Glenna is survived by her son, Jesse Runnels and wife, Robin; grandchildren Alesha Runnels, Marsha Krotky and husband, Mark, Michelle Runnels, Kelli Shuhart and husband, Bill, Kristie Blas and husband, Paul, and Jarrett Willson and wife, Shelley as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Nora Wheeler, her husband, Jesse Runnels and a son, Michael Runnels.
Serving as pallbearers for Glenna are Jarrett Willson, Mark Krotky, Jack Cheney, Colt Nichols and Dillon Harred.
