Frances Ann Thompson, 71, of Commerce, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 14, 2017. She was born on November 2, 1945 in Havere, Montana, the youngest daughter of William and Bess Thompson.
Frances was blessed with a very happy childhood. She was constantly encouraged by her parents to learn. Her family was proud of her accomplishments. She graduated from Commerce High School, University of Texas at Arlington and Texas A&M-Commerce, where she received graduate degrees.
She dedicated most of her life to teaching others. She taught ESL for 30 years in Como-Pickton ISD. She encouraged those she knew to keep trying, even when it is not easy to do so.
She formally retired from teaching, but continued to teach by example. She enjoyed her friends, her Red Hat Hotties lady’s club, her Culture Club and attending Joyous on Thursday mornings. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and painting. She was especially proud to be an American, a Christian and a helper to those in need.
Frances is survived by her niece, Julie Pistacchio and her husband, Jason, nephew Brian Birmingham, niece Anne Pedata and husband, Mark, great nieces Melanie Carpenter and Heather Carpenter and great nephews Jonathan Pistacchio and Mattew Pistacchio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bess Thompson and sister Mary Birmingham.
