Eddie Carruth Wallace, 81, of Campbell, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her home. She was born on January 30, 1936 in Carrollton, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Bedford Carruth and Gladys Mae Lowrey Carruth. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James Ralson officiating. Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery.
Eddie was born in Carrollton, but grew up in Odessa, Texas, where she graduated from Odessa High School. Not long after high school, she met the love of her life, Weldon Wallace. They married in Loving, New Mexico on March 19, 1955. Sometime later, she attended Draughn’s Business College in Lubbock, Texas during the time that Weldon served in the military. During her career she spent time working at E Systems and East Texas State University. Her time at ETSU as a computer operator spanned almost 30 years.
Eddie had many varied interests. She was very active in her local chapter of the Eastern Star, holding the position of Past Worthy Matron, which is quite an honor. She enjoyed shopping, watching movies of all genres, as well as reading all types of novels. She especially enjoyed Danielle Steele novels. Eddie was particularly known for her delicious pecan pies!
Eddie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Weldon; her son, John Wallace; brother, John Carruth; granddaughter, Lauren Wallace; nieces, Cynthia Carruth, Caron Clinkskales, Cathey Edmonds, Stacy Johnson and Stefanie Cole and nephew, Craig Carruth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Gladys Carruth.
Serving as casket bearers for Eddie will be Gary Don Wallace, Steve Wallace, Charles Wallace, Quinten Wallace, Michael Wallace and Jason Paul Brand.
