Eddie Jack Speights, 57, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 3, 2021, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on April 22, 1964, in Greenville, Texas, the son of George Alton Speights and Betty Lou Broiles Speights. The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Monday, September 6, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Wolfe City, Texas. A funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church.

Eddie attended Cumby High School, graduating with the class of 1982. He was an owner/operator in the trucking industry, spending 39 years in the business. He married the love of his life, Laurie Mayhan, on August 20, 1994, in Cumby, Texas. They enjoyed 27 years of life together. One of Eddie’s proudest accomplishments was Laurie and he being one of the founding families in the Cross Trails Cowboy Church. He was a lay pastor for several years. Many people were led to faith in Jesus Christ because of Eddie’s willingness to share his faith with them. It is said that if you did not know Jesus before you met Eddie, then you certainly did after you met Eddie. He shared his faith with any and everyone. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride to him. He was a strong family man, enjoying grilling outdoors while catching up with everyone.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; his children, Stetson Speights, Colton Speights and Morgan Hinsley and her husband, Ellis; his mother, Betty Speights; sisters, Tami Sanchez and Cindy Dillard and husband, Brad; his grandchildren, Aubri Hinsley, Sadie Hinsley, Colter Speights, and Cayson Speights, who is due to make his appearance in November.  Eddie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Speights.
