Doris Lawwill

Doris June Lawwill, 76, of Cumby, passed away on May 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on June 20, 1944 in Valley Creek, Tennessee, the daughter of Gilbert Hatfield and Goldie Lee Dunn Hatfield.  The family will receive friends at a visitation to take place on Monday, May 17, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home.  A graveside service will take place immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cumby.

Doris attended school in Valley Creek, Tennessee.  She married the love of her life, Jimmy Lawwill, on March 6, 1965 in Clairfield , Tennessee.  Doris was a very hardworking woman.  The last years of her working career were spent at Wal Mart, where she worked for 18 years.  In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by many family and friends.

Doris is survived by her children, Judy Williams and husband, Greg, Mike Lawwill and wife, Wendy, Cindy Trull and husband, Larry and Jason Lawwill and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Josh Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Blaine Lawwill, Tiffany McPherson and husband, Stewart, Travis Mauldin, Cody Lawwill and wife, Alyssa, Jodie Phipps and husband, Brandon, Larry Trull, Jr., Kymberly Lawwill, Erica Lawwill and Taylor Steinmetz and husband, Phillip; great grandchildren, Hunter McPherson, Harley Phipps, Holden Phipps, Harper Phipps, Hadlee Phipps, Tristen McPherson, Emery McPherson, Elliana McPherson,  Eadon McPherson, Jayden Lawwill, Dakota Lawwill, Remington Lawwill, Lillian Haywood and Phillip Steinmetz; siblings, Glenna McCloud and husband, Ron, Thelma Pittman, Larry Hatfield and wife, Patsy, Annette Noe, Curtis Hatfield and wife, Victoria and Linda Dougherty and husband, Jeff and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by husband, Jimmy, daughter, Diane, parents, Gilbert and Goldie Hatfield and sister, Fayetta Hatfield.

Serving as pallbearers for Doris are Josh Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Larry Trull, Jr., Blaine Lawwill, Travis Mauldin and Cody Lawwill.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Hunter McPherson, Holden Phipps, Tristan McPherson, Eadon McPherson, Jayden Lawwill and Phillip Steinmetz.
