Donald Louis Munding, a resident of Cooper, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 85. He was a resident of Enloe and Cooper for over 20 years.
Donald was born in Glendale, CA on March 26, 1938 to Oscar Munding and Margaret Preston. He learned, at a very young age, everything there was to know about machinery and tools, since his father owned and operated a machine shop. He could fix almost anything! He owned and operated an HVAC business for over 30 years in California.
Donald proudly served his country and was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of the Enloe Methodist Church, an amateur radio operator (K6CAB in CA and KSDLM in TX). He attained his license at the age of 16. He was an avid pilot and sailor, owning both a sailboat and a plane at one time. He enjoyed music and played both a saxophone and bass guitar in community and church bands. He loved his dogs, Molly and Ozzie, and took them to the park daily.
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Alberta; his children, Dona Gavlick of Cooper and Sean Munding and wife, Kate, of Orinda, CA; grandchildren, Sophia Gavlick and Leo Munding. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Oscar; brothers, Robert Custer and Buddy Custer, and baby sister, Betty Jean Custer.
He is with his family and the Lord now, but will be greatly missed by his family and friends left behind.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Enloe Methodist Church in Enloe, TX, with pastor Stacy Smith officiating the service.
