David Welch

December 2, 1958 — November 27, 2021

Wylie

David “Busboy” Welch passed away at his home in Wylie, TX on November 27, 2021 while surrounded by loved ones.  David was born in Greenville, TX on December 2, 1958 to Lester and Jeanette Welch.  A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home in Commerce.

David attended Commerce High School, graduating in May of 1977.  He then attended East Texas State University (ETSU), now Texas A&M-Commerce.  Following his time at ETSU, David married the love of his life, Loretta Kay Fowler Welch in February of 1989 in Arlington, TX.

David worked as a powder coating manager, retiring from that profession after 37 years.  David had many interests and hobbies.  He was a member of the CB Radio Club, communicating with people far and wide.  He kept a notebook next to his CB mic where he recorded the CB handles of, and notes about, all the people with whom he spoke.  In addition to his CB radio hobby, David enjoyed fishing, “lazy” camping, thrifting and collecting railroad lanterns.  He also enjoyed a good game of pool, and owned his own custom-made pool que.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Loretta; his daughter, Shanna Lee Welch and husband Rhys Truscott; Aunt Mozelle Jackie Potter, and numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Jeanette, and his brother, Paul R. Welch.
