Clarence Eugene “Doc” Jensen was born on November 25, 1937 (Thanksgiving Day, as well as his parents’ third wedding anniversary), to Clarence Eric Jensen and Marie Parker Jensen. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Commerce Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Commerce. Burial will follow at Brigham Cemetery.
Since his father was a bridge contractor, Clarence lived in fourteen different towns and therefore never met a stranger. His family settled in Terrell, Texas when he was ten years old, and he graduated from Terrell High School in 1956.
After one semester at Texas Tech, Clarence entered East Texas State College, where he was a member of the Cavalier Social Club and later the Charter President of Delta Tau Delta international fraternity. While at ETSC, he received his BA and MBA degrees. Clarence also obtained his private pilot’s license at the age of nineteen and was an avid airplane enthusiast. Clarence and his high school sweetheart, Kay White, were married at the First United Methodist Church in Terrell, Texas, on April 16, 1960. He had a love for children and dogs, but his family was his unending source of love, pride, and joy. After graduation, Clarence was employed by McKnight Construction Company. Later in his career he owned Red River Trucking Company and Tri-State Stone, a rock crushing company, which operated in Texas and Oklahoma.
Left to cherish memories of Clarence are his wife of 64 years, Kay; two sons, Craig , and wife, Katy, and Chris, and wife, Christy; grandchildren, Wesley and wife, Karlie, Erin Richardson, and husband, Tyler, Zach Jensen, Kaylee Jensen, Abby Jensen; great grandchildren, Asher Jensen, Jude Jensen, and Ellie Richardson.
Rather than send flowers, the family would appreciate a donation made to honor Clarence to the First United Methodist Church, fumccommerce.org, or the FUMC Lockhart-Burkett Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
Serving as casket bearers for Clarence are Ben Doughty, Wyman Williams, Charlie Smith, Neal Stewart, Wesley Jensen, and Zach Jensen.
