Cathy Sue Cummings

November 4, 1951 — February 25, 2017

Cathy Sue Cummings, 65, of Emory, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.  She was born on November 4, 1951 in Commerce, Texas, the daughter of Henry Cleborn Cupit and Billie Matkins Cupit.

Cathy was born and raised in Commerce, Texas.  She married the love of her life, Kenneth Cummings, on February 9, 1970 in Durant, Oklahoma.  For many years, she and Kenneth were owners of a Sonic restaurant in Commerce, along with some in other locations.  Following that venture, they went into business for themselves.  For the last 16 years Cathy and Kenneth have been associated with The Limu Company.  This was a big blessing in their lives, affording them some financial independence and the opportunity to make friends with people all over the United States and Canada.  They are so thankful for their Limu friends.  Cathy was a faithful follower of Jesus.  She spent many hours studying His Word and cultivating her relationship with Him.  She loved to talk about Him and all the many ways He had blessed her and her family.  She and Kenneth enjoyed traveling.  They have been all over the United States; the eastern part of the country being her favorite.  A particular trip took Kenneth, their son, Shon and her to 17 different states, culminating at Niagara Falls.  She did enjoy Colorado, which they visited many times.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth; her son, Shon Potter and wife, Tracy; her brother, Michael Cupit and wife, Michelle, sister, Carolyn Bearden and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Billie Cupit and a granddaughter, Skye Potter.

Serving as honorary pallbearers for Cathy are Brine Bearden, Justin Nabers, Landon Nabers, Wesley Miller, Charles Humphries and Ryan Miller.
