Bobby G Johnson was born March 22, 1933 in Commerce Tx. He was the son of Harold F Johnson and Maybelle Ferguson. A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Commerce Funeral Home. Bobby will be laid to rest in Pecan Gap Cemetery on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Bobby graduated from Commerce High School in 1951, then served as a corporal in the Korean War from 1953 – 1955. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Commerce for many years.
Bobby worked for the City of Dallas for a short time in the parks and recreation department where he planted many of the trees in Samuel/Grand Park. He then went to work for J.I. Case/Case International Tractors as the Dallas Depot Manager where he assisted Case/IH dealerships throughout Texas with their parts inventory and management, as well as helping Texas farmers determine and obtain the maintenance and emergency parts necessary to keep their equipment running. He was also responsible for the successful move of the Dallas Depot to Greenville. He retired from Case/IH in 1992 after 40 years of service. He also worked 18 years part time at JC Penny at Big Town (Mesquite) where he sold men’s suits.
Bobby enjoyed bowling, biking, riding horses and deer hunting, but spent most of his leisure time golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his son Tim Johnson and wife Angela of Sulphur Springs, his daughter Jeannie Bordovsky and husband Terry of Mount Pleasant, his son by marriage Mark Sandlin and wife Gena of Allen, 6 grandchildren and 9 more by marriage, 6 great grandchildren and 15 more by marriage and two nieces.
Preceding Bobby in death were his parents Harold and Maybelle Johnson, his brother LeWayne Johnson, first wife Virginia Humphries Johnson, second wife Ruth Sandlin Johnson, a son by marriage Stanley Sandlin and a grandson by marriage Jake Sandlin.
Honorary pallbearers: The members of the McDonalds, Commerce morning and afternoon coffee group.
